01The problem
Forecasts were done in a separate spreadsheet each month and never reached the reports, so the job kept being measured against a budget nobody believed any more.
02What we built
A monthly restatement of what is left to spend, by cost category and line item, entered by hand or imported from the cost software already in use. Cost to date is captured alongside for reference. Once approved, a forecast is locked and can become the baseline for reporting.
03The result
Reports compare actual cost with the latest approved forecast, so a variance means something changed since last month, not since the tender.
